Personal Notes: I was there on the opening day. In September 39, children from the school were marched down to Seven Kings station for evacuation to an unknown destination which turned out to be Ipswich. We all had our gas masks, chocolate bars and biscuits. Billeting was chaotic the other end. Schooling was intermittent in people's houses.
