Personal Notes: OBITUARY COURTESY OF REDBRIDGE COUNCIL
We regret to announce that Councillor James Leal, Cabinet Member for Planning Policy and Regulation, Redbridge Council died at home, on Friday 26 May 2006.
Councillor Leal, aged 30, had served on the Council since 02 May 2002, when he was first elected to represent Bridge Ward.
Since then he has held the posts of Chairman of the Licensing and General Purposes Committees, Cabinet Member for Planning Policy and Regulation and Cabinet Member for Planning and Regeneration.
We would like to express our regret at the tragic loss of Councillor Leal. James' passing is a tremendous loss to the Borough. He was dynamic and energetic, witty and insightful. Despite his short time with the Council, James demonstrated a strong commitment to local residents and to his public duties.
He will be dearly missed by us all. The thoughts of all Council Members and staff are with Councillor Leal's family at this time, to whom we offer our deepest sympathies. Redbridge Council will be flying the flag at half mast as a mark of respect and to commemorate the life and work of Councillor Leal.
